Members of this board, as well as many "Men’s Rights Activists" in general, tend to go apoplectic at even the most mild implications that women might be human beings. For them, this is simply "not allowed" and must be punished swiftly and severely, as they appear to believe that feminism is the one obstacle in the way of all these pathetic neckbeards getting their pick of supermodel girlfriends who obey their every whim.

Watson was reported to have been targeted by people who got mad at her speech, with a website called "Emma Watson is Next" appearing. Reports about the threat featured comments from 4chan and Reddit users claiming that they would target Watson, with the primary focus of the reports being the website.

But the website appears to be a hoax, with the countdown clock moving up three days, then hitting 0. No pictures emerged–instead it turned into a website for a marketing company.

A Reddit user had said earlier Tuesday that after doing some digging it appeared that the website was created by a marketing company Rantic, in conjunction with a pseudo-news outlet Fox Weekly.

"There is evidence that the emmayouarenext.com website is hosted by Rantic and that they have a recent history of inventing stories of this nature, they even reused the 4chan + hacker angle from a previous promotion," the user said.

"It seems the whole point of marketing these days is to sell lies to as many people as possible and this particular campaign appears to have done that very successfully."

Multiple news outlets reported on the website as if it were legitimate, including the Washington Post and BBC.

I can't believe I'm about to defend 4chan, but here we go: despite the presence of 4chan's logo on the Emma You Are Next site, and the fact that some on the site's message board say they are aboard, it seems like no one has been able to prove definitively that they person behind the website even has the nudes, or that they originated at 4chan.

In the coverage of Watson's speech, one person extrapolated from the correlation between Watson's pro-feminism speech to the UN and the launch of the website (Watson gave her speech on Saturday; the countdown clock appeared on Sunday) that they were related to another and everybody else just ran that peg all the way to the end zone. Some commenters in the thread quoted by Death & Taxes seem gleeful about the correlation, but that doesn't mean that one event was prompted by the other.

Lower your hackles. This is the reaction that gives internet trolls life.

Besides, it's probably all just bullshit, anyway.
